Hato San Miguel, formerly Hato Piñero, is the name given to a natural reserve, tourist site and Venezuelan Historical Monument located in the parish of El Baúl, in the Girardot Municipality of Cojedes State, in the Llanos Region in the north-central part of the country, near the town of Tinaquillo. It covers an area of approximately 80,000 hectares and protects various species of animals and flora of the plains region.
The area began as one of the typical colonial haciendas of this part of the country and changed owners on countless occasions specializing in cattle ranching. In the 1950’s the Branger Family Company took possession of the land and prohibited hunting, logging and burning and began the development of productive activities along with three other programs: environmental education, ecotourism and research in taxonomy and ecology.
